GURARA WATERFALLS, NIGER STATE

Nigeria has a well-known waterfall called Gurara Waterfalls. Situated near Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and in Niger State, it is one of the nation’s most popular tourist destinations. Individuals from various walks of life gather at Gurara Waterfalls for leisure activities such as swimming, picnicking, and bird viewing. Discovered in 1745 by a Gwari hunter named Buba, the Gurara Waterfalls were utilised for worship until recently, when they became a popular tourist attraction and leisure area in Nigeria.

 

AWHUM WATERFALL, ENUGU STATE

Situated in Amaugwe Village, Awhum Town, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria, the Awhum Waterfall is a renowned tourist destination. The waterfall is created by a large granite rock outcrop with a stream of water flowing at the top. Through the seasons, a portion of the water is often warm. The Awhum waterfall is situated near the AwhumMonastery and is thirty metres high.

 

ERIN IJESHA WATERFALLS, OSUN STATE

Arguably the most well-known waterfall in Nigeria, Erin Ijesha Waterfall, sometimes called Olumirin Waterfalls, is situated in Osun State in the southwest of the nation. At a height of more than twenty metres, this waterfall waterfall cascades over rugged rocks and offers a stunning backdrop for well-executed photos and selfies—that is, if you don’t mind getting drenched. It is advised to wear appropriate footwear for your visit to Erin Ijesha waterfall, as it has seven stages, and the surrounding terrain is rough and slippery.

 

FARIN RUWA WATERFALLS, NASARAWA STATE

With roughly 50 cubic metres of water, the Farin Ruwa Waterfall rises to an astounding height of over 150 metres. Situated in Nasarawa State, it is a stunning tourist destination in Nigeria. The Farin Ruwa waterfall is among Africa’s highest and most noteworthy waterfalls.

 

MATSIRGA WATERFALLS, KADUNA STATE

Kaduna State is home to Matsirga Waterfalls. The Matsirga waterfall is formed by springs on the Kagoro Hills that flow into four distinct natural funnels that drop from a sheer rock cliff at around 25 metres, creating a sizable pool at the bottom. It is situated 227 kilometres south of Kaduna in Madakiya, near Kafanchan. At the Matsirga Waterfalls, stunning rocks support a waterfall that plunges 30 metres into a gorge. This place is a tourist’s paradise.

 

KWA WATERFALL, CALABAR

The magnificent Kwa Waterfalls are in Anegeje village, Akamkpa Local Government Area, Cross River State. The Great Kwa River continues into this waterfall. The Great Kwa River flows gracefully through Cross River State, draining the east side of the stunning city of Calabar. The Kwa Falls’ waters cascade down basement rocks at the Oban side of Cross River National Park. They do so by descending through a wide vertical gash on a cliff. The stunning backdrop of the Kwa Falls is a year-round attraction, making it a great tourist destination.

 

OWU WATERFALLS, KWARA STATE

Another well-known waterfall in Nigeria is Owu Waterfalls, in Owa Kajola, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State. With a height of 120 metres above sea level and a drop of 330 feet down an escarpment with rocky outcrops to a pool of icy water below, this specific waterfall is the highest in West Africa.

 

ARINTA WATERFALLS, EKITI STATE

Situated near the well-known Ikogosi Warm Spring in Ekiti State, Arinta Waterfalls is a stunning cascade. Its characteristics include an aerial view of Ipole-Iloro, natural forest vegetation, and an unbroken water flow from the hills. It’s a terrific spot for swimming, picnics, and relaxing.

 

AGBOKIM WATERFALL, CROSS RIVER STATE

Etung Local Government Area in Cross River State is home to Agbokim Waterfalls. The magnificent freshwater cascade that pours down the tall rock and into the stunning tropical rainforest is a sight to behold. The seven streams constitute this wonder. The waterfall is encircled by lush greenery, valleys, and steep hills; this waterfall has long been regarded as one of Cross River State’s top tourist destinations.
