Historical Significance of the Nzem Berom Festival

The Nzem Berom Festival, first celebrated in 1981, was created to integrate numerous traditional Berom festivals, such as Mandyeng, Nshok, and Badu.

The Berom people‘s agricultural and hunting cycles depended heavily on these celebrations, which were customarily celebrated from March to April.

By consolidating these celebrations, the Nzem Berom Festival became a comprehensive representation of Berom cultural identity.

The Nzem Berom festival provides a forum for teaching the next generation about their ancestry and acting as a means of cultural preservation. Through storytelling, performances, and exhibitions, the Berom people pass down their history, values, and traditions, ensuring their culture’s continuity.
