Lagos State, Access Bank Unveil “DettyFusion” to Revolutionise the Detty December Experience

As the year draws to a close, global attention is increasingly turning to Nigeria’s commercial powerhouse, Lagos, further cementing its status as a top-tier holiday destination. In a groundbreaking initiative to standardise and elevate the iconic “Detty December” festivities, Access Bank PLC, on November 29, entered into a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Through this collaboration, they have launched DettyFusion, a comprehensive digital ecosystem crafted to transform and enhance the holiday experience for Lagosians and international visitors alike.

According to TheGuardian, the initiative, unveiled with fanfare at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, arrives as a timely solution to the logistical bottlenecks that often plague the festive period. While Lagos is renowned for its vibrant energy, partygoers usually face hurdles such as exorbitant ticket scalping, accommodation scarcity, and fragmented event information. DettyFusion aims to eliminate these friction points by serving as a centralised “super-hub”.

Users will gain access to curated event calendars, seamless payment gateways, and verified accommodation listings, ensuring that the focus remains on enjoyment rather than planning stress. The collaboration goes beyond mere entertainment; it is deeply rooted in the state’s developmental goals.

The Deputy Managing Director, Access Bank PLC, Chizoma Okoli, who was represented by Ishmael Nwokocha, the Group Head, Mobility Business, Access Bank, said:

“Detty Fusion is not just a digital innovation but a strategic effort to position Lagos as a global cultural and creative hub. The initiative is designed to deliver shared value to Lagos State, the creative ecosystem, and the public. It aligns with Lagos State’s “THEMES” agenda (Traffic Management and Transportation; Health and Environment; Education and Technology; Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy; Entertainment and Tourism; Security and Government).

A critical component of the DettyFusion initiative is the physical management of the city during high-traffic events. Recognising that gridlock is a major dampener during festivities, the partnership has integrated state agencies to ensure road fluidity and street sanitation.

Speaking on the logistics, Nwokocha noted, “With Detty Fusion, we will ensure that people have fun without the hassles of traffic and all the challenges that come with the season. This is why we have the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on the team to manage traffic, ensuring seamless movement. We also have the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to ensure the city is clean during Detty December.”

Furthermore, the platform serves as an economic engine. By centralising tourism and entertainment, Access Bank is doubling down on its commitment to the “Orange Economy”, providing a structured environment where SMEs, entertainers, and vendors can thrive.

Nwokocha added, “Through Detty Fusion, Access Bank aims to make the festive season stress-free and memorable for all, offering services such as access to health schemes, accommodation booking, and connections to recreational and tourism events.”

The project has received strong backing from the state government, which views this as a pivotal step in competing with global tourism giants during the winter holidays. The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, commended the financial institution for buying into the vision of a 21st-century Lagos.

Aregbe stated, “This partnership with Access Bank reflects the spirit of Lagos and its commitment to leaving lasting, pleasurable memories for everyone.”

As December approaches, DettyFusion promises to be the ultimate companion for anyone looking to navigate the music, fashion, and cultural explosion that is Lagos.
