Ghana Tourism Authority to Host International Expo in Lagos, Nigeria

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with key trade and industry stakeholders, has announced the Ghana International Expo and Investment Forum, a landmark event poised to showcase Ghana’s business potential, deepen tourism and trade ties, and attract cross-border investment.

Scheduled for September 24–27, 2025, at the Eko FM Auditorium in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, the Expo will run under the theme “Unlocking Investment Potential Through Intra-African Trade and Tourism.”

Ghanaian entrepreneurs, investors, government officials, and international business leaders will gather at the forum. It will also provide a vital platform for businesses across diverse sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, creative arts, fashion, finance, and services, to connect with their Nigerian and global counterparts.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasised the significance of the event. “This Expo is more than a showcase; it is a gateway for Ghanaian businesses to position themselves as global players. It also strengthens our economic ties with Nigeria and opens new markets across Africa and beyond,” she stated.

She added, “As the agency mandated to promote tourism, we recognize the Expo recognition tool in driving regional integration and supporting the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).”

The Expo will feature several key components, including:

  • Business Exhibitions: Showcasing a wide range of Ghanaian products and services.
  • Investment Forums & Panel Discussions: Focusing on critical topics such as trade policy, financing, and partnership opportunities.
  • Networking Sessions: Providing a platform for businesses, investors, and policymakers to forge strategic connections.
  • Tourism & Cultural Showcases: Celebrating Ghana’s rich heritage through fashion, music, and the arts.

The event is expected to attract a diverse group of participants from across Africa and the diaspora, including private sector leaders, government representatives, trade associations, and development partners.

The Ghana International Expo and Investment Forum aligns with Ghana’s broader economic agenda to diversify exports, stimulate investment, and position the country as a competitive hub for trade, innovation, and tourism under the AfCFTA framework.

This annual platform is designed to promote Ghanaian enterprise, trade, tourism, and strategic partnerships across Africa and globally. Its primary aim is to empower local industries and highlight Ghana as a dynamic, innovative, and investment-ready nation.

The expo serves as a powerful marketing tool for Ghana. By hosting the event in a major regional hub like Lagos, Nigeria, Ghana directly targets a key market. The “Tourism & Cultural Showcases” at the expo, which include fashion, music, and the arts, are designed to give attendees a taste of Ghana’s rich heritage and vibrant culture.

This approach positions Ghana not just as a business destination but also as an attractive option for leisure and heritage travel. This strategy builds on the success of past initiatives like the “Year of Return” and “Beyond the Return,” which successfully attracted thousands from the African diaspora.
