Radisson Blu Highlights Culture and Hospitality in World Tourism Day Celebration

by Familugba Victor

Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on October 8, hosted a remarkable evening at its Idera Hall to commemorate World Tourism Day 2025.

The event, themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” globally and “One World, Many Cultures” locally, brought together ambassadors, expatriates, creatives, business leaders, and tourism stakeholders for an unforgettable celebration of culture and hospitality.

As reported by The Guardian, the event underscored the hotel’s dedication to fostering cultural connections, promoting sustainability, and delivering world-class hospitality. Guests were treated to an immersive experience featuring a curated music selection by TOSC Africa and a vibrant cultural performance by Vibes Republic.

The performance showcased traditional Igbo, Hausa, Efik, and Yoruba dances, reflecting the rich diversity of Nigerian artistry. Attendees also savoured premium canapés, fine wines, and globally inspired cocktails, all crafted to meet Radisson Blu’s renowned culinary standards.

A key highlight of the evening was a presentation by Club Concierge International (CCI), a leading luxury company that transforms travel, tourism, and premium experiences across Africa. CCI’s segment highlighted their offerings, including exclusive access to global hospitality networks, tailored travel experiences, timeshare opportunities, lifestyle management, and concierge services. Their presentation emphasised the potential for strategic partnerships to drive sustainable tourism growth and elevate hospitality standards across the continent.

General Manager of the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Raza Ahmed, emphasised that “the reason for today’s gathering is to celebrate and promote tourism in Nigeria and show the world the positive image of Nigeria.

“Today, tourism is bringing a huge impact and potential to this country, and we have a responsibility on our part to present the right image of tourism, and how do we do that? With events like this, we showcase exactly what we are capable of: our talent, the services that we offer, and the sustainability programmes that we have embarked on, and we show the global community that we are capable of achieving any global standard that they are used to when they go to any part of the world. To improve or to help tourism in Nigeria, the government really needs to invest in the youth and infrastructure.”

Event curator and CEO of KTMEDIA Company, Tomi Omowale, shared that the World Tourism Day celebration was designed to reimagine culture, connection, and hospitality in fresh, vibrant ways.

“We aimed to position Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel as more than a hospitality venue but as a cultural hub that embodies the essence of Lagos, through music, cuisine, art, and impactful partnerships like Club Concierge International, which are pioneering luxury travel and hospitality innovation across Africa.

“Global tourism hubs like Paris or Dubai thrive on strong marketing, infrastructure, and visibility. Nigeria is on its way, but we must focus on experience-driven tourism, creating spaces, events, and collaborations that inspire both locals and visitors to explore our country.” Omowale said.
