Ogun State Pledges New Investments in Tourism to Boost Local Economy

The Importance of Tourism in Ogun State

To achieve a formidable socio-economic position in the state, the government of Ogun State has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the tourist sector, according to the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC).

Governor Dapo Abiodun commented on the 24th Odun Omo Olowu Festival, which took place this past Saturday at Oba Adeleye Park in the Abeokuta North local government area.

Governor Abiodun referred to the sector as an additional means of boosting the state’s economy. He explained that the numerous festivals play a significant role in attracting many tourists to the state. He also mentioned that these festivals serve as a means of constructing infrastructure that helps preserve and promote the people’s heritage and traditions.

As a result, he issued a call to action to various stakeholders, urging them to collaborate with the state government to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the sector and enhance the state’s economy.

Celebrating the Culture of the Owu Kingdom

The Governor congratulated the sons and daughters of the Owu Kingdom and praised the festival as a celebration of their rich culture. He also committed that his administration would continue to promote the culture and traditions of the people, ensuring the welfare of the Owu Kingdom and the state as a whole.

The Governor of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, was praised by the Governor for his exceptional leadership, which promotes love and cooperation among the Owu people. He also acknowledged the harmonious coexistence he shares with the entire Egba community. The Governor mentioned that the impressive turnout at the event was due to the monarch’s fatherly guidance, which fostered a spirit of unity among the people of the Owu Kingdom.

State Support for Agricultural Projects and Economic Growth

While the Governor expressed his gratitude to the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, for his involvement in the state’s growth, he also gave his strong assurance that the state government would fully support the agricultural cooperative project that the former president had proposed, strengthening the area of agriculture and bringing hope for its future.

When Governor Abiodun addressed the upcoming local government election, he urged the people to join the government in its efforts to promote peace and development. He also cautioned the younger generation to avoid engaging in destructive activities during election time, emphasising the government’s commitment to a peaceful process.

In a message of goodwill, Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, urged the people of Nigeria to embrace vocational skills as a method of empowerment and to remain resilient in the face of the current economic crises affecting the nation.
